IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT -- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 9th, 2009
The MTD Studios Complex located in Clermont, Florida has made an
operational change effective immediately. The Sound Stage and
backlot will no longer be rented out for film and television
projects. The MTD Studios Complex will remain operational
for internal film production only (projects produced by MTD
Studios).
"It was an operational decision. We wanted to be the low cost
leader in the area for production facilities. With the current
economy, the rental of the sound stage/backlot was unprofitable
for us," says Paula Morgan of MTD Entertainment Corporation.
Michael Dunn continues, "Besides we have an aggressive production
schedule for 2009 and 2010 -- we really didn't have the space
for outside productions." The studio facilty features a small
sound stage, chroma stage, private lake and 10 acres of various
backlots/topographies.
"Staffing the hotline/email service wasn't cost effective for the
facility rental. Our corporation needed to concentrate on its
profitable ventures," says Morgan. No jobs will be affected
in the change. "If anything, more jobs will be created as we
are shifting our resources to more film production and our
real estate holdings."
All existing rental commitments will be honored. The Studio
complex will be home to 2 productions this year including
"Silent Night: Agent Down" and "Traitor Within." In 2010,
the horror feature film "Pandora's Box" is scheduled to be
filmed in Clermont.
